Review:

One of great things about smartphones today is having a camera with you at all times. As the technology continues to improve, cameras on our Android phones are only going to get better. I find that I use my Android phone camera more than my Cannon Sure shot digital camera these days. Because of this I am always looking for cool camera apps to have and use. An app I recent came across Photo Studio.

Photo Studio is a simple app to use but has ton of features. This app from KVAD Group was first created for Blackberry and is listed in the 10 top-free & 10 top-paid apps in that app world.  The Blackberry version of the app has about 115 effects, and a lot of different frames. Due to its success their, the app was ported over to Android.

Once you open the app, you can choose to get a photo from your gallery or take a fresh one. After you get the photo, then the fun begins. The app currently has some base operations such as making adjustments to brightness, contrast, RGB color adjustment, hue, and saturation. Also options are listed on a menu bar at the bottom of the screen. The buttons are easy to find and of the options I tried worked well.

In addition to these options you can resize, rotate and crop photos. The option I like the most is the artist touch you can give photos. Right now there are 15 unique effects such as simple toning, old newspaper, summer mood and more.

As this app is BETA, that means it is growing and getting updated. Right now it a good, useful photo editor but there are a lot of components coming down the road. I checked with the developer to find out the time line. Right now the plan is to have additional frames, Picframes (with 60 templates), Color Splash, and red eyes correction, features in the BlackBerry version by the end of June.

From the screenshots I have, I used the app on a photo of my son (after his school play). It was very easy to rotate, crop, stylize, and then save and share the photo. Also if you noticed in the photos- there are NO ADS. The current beta has no ads but if they follow the Blackberry version, the free version will have most features, while a pro version has the full features set.

Photo Studio is a very capable photo editor application for Android devices. This Android app’s main job is to allow you to edit and modify your photos right there on the smartphone, rather than having to wait to get home and download your photos. The interface is clean, it is very easy to navigate and figure out what to do, plus there are NO ADS. So if you are looking for a way to edit photos on your Android, I recommend you give Photo Studio a try.
